Discipling Community Shepherds

What does it mean to be a discipling community and to shepherd your group?

Intentional learning: Everything we teach is centered around the Gospel. From the questions we ask to the lessons we discuss, the Gospel needs to be clearly represented.

Know their story: You don’t just know their name but what God has done in their lives. This is an ongoing process of learning about those God has called you to shepherd.

Prayer: We are not a church that prays, we are a praying church. Your group prays for each other, the lost, and the church as we attach the gates of hell.

How to pray for them: Your sheep are being attacked by the enemy daily. You are asking the hard questions about the enemy’s attack so you know how to pray for them.

Accountability: Holding each other accountable is necessary for the growth of us spiritually. It allows us to ask and answer tough questions about ourselves and permits others to speak truth into our lives.

Know their next steps: As their shepherd, you can help them discover what their next step could be and lead them toward it. We are asking you not to let your sheep go stagnant in their journey.

Sermon-Based Lessons

The gospel teaches us that every sacrifice for the sake of gaining eternity with God is worth it. So much so that God the Father was willing to sacrice his son Jesus, and Jesus was willing to to sacrifice his life. All so that we could gain life with his Holy Spirit here on earth and life in eternity as well.

Matthew 16:13-28

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

Jesus’s resurrection means we can encounter the risen Lord Jesus Christ whenever we choose. We just need to make time to meet with him and let him change us like only he can. Faith in Christ compels us to come to Christ.

Matthew 17:1-13

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

When we put our faith in Jesus and his resurrection, we realize that who He is and what he did is everything that we need.We have power over the enemy, purpose for sacrifice, and provision to point others to him.

Matthew 17:14-27

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

Jesus is the perfect picture of childlike humility. Though He is the eternal Son of God, He humbled Himself, becoming obedient even to death on a cross (Philippians 2:5–8). In doing so, He displayed that true greatness is not found in power or prestige but in surrender and dependence upon the Father.

Matthew 18:1-14

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

The gospel reveals that we have been forgiven a debt that we could never pay. When we realize how much we have been forgiven, we can freely forgive those who have wronged us.

Matthew 18:15-19:12

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

God restores life to us as we pour life into others. Serving didn’t remove Jesus’ own needs, but the Father strengthened Him through His ministry. In the same way, God uses opportunities to serve others to meet us in our own places of need.

Matthew 14:13–21; John 4:34

Lesson (English)

Lesson (Spanish)

Though Jesus was the most important person on earth, he humbled himself to the lowest by allowing himself to be crucified on a cross. But his humility released the Father’s power. So too, when we humbly remember what Christ has done for us, we humbly serve His agenda and not ours.

Matthew 19:13-15
