$75,000 to Expand a Missionary Care Retreat Center

ABOUT

ABOUT

Lora and Lukas have served on the front lines of some of the hardest-to-reach places in the world. After years of ministry among an unreached people group in Central Asia, they now use their experience to create a place of rest for others still serving on the front lines.

Out of that calling, they opened the Walnut Tree—a place of rest for weary missionaries and indigenous leaders.

HISTORY OF FIELDER'S INVOLVEMENT

HISTORY OF FIELDER'S INVOLVEMENT

When Fielder Church merged with South Oaks Baptist Church, we were introduced to Lora and Lukas—and quickly saw that God had already been at work in their story.

After being forced to leave the field, they walked through a season of healing and renewal. Out of that season, God gave them a vision: to care for the very people they once served alongside.

They opened the Walnut Tree—a respite home for weary missionaries and frontline workers. And since opening its doors, it has rarely had an empty room.

We’ve seen firsthand how God uses this place to restore those who are carrying the weight of isolation, spiritual warfare, and grief—so they can return to their calling strengthened and renewed.

THE NEED

THE NEED

The need for care is real—and often unseen.

Missionaries and indigenous leaders around the world are pouring themselves out for the gospel, yet many have nowhere to go to process trauma, find rest, or be restored. Since opening, the Walnut Tree has been at full capacity, revealing just how great the need truly is.

To meet this need, Lora and Lukas are expanding the Walnut Tree into a retreat center—renovating an existing building into a space for counseling, debriefing, and rest, including housing for missionaries and their families, along with features like a café space and climbing wall.

This project includes $75,000 to help fund these renovations and create a place for gospel workers to be restored and strengthened.

Your generosity helps care for those who are giving everything to carry the gospel—so they can continue the work God has called them to. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to missions@fielder.org
