What project will you be doing?

Answer

We’ll host a mobile food pantry and pack emergency food boxes at three campuses. At the Pioneer campus, we’ll also partner with Buckner International to sort, box, and give away shoes.

Pioneer: Remote parking lot (all three projects)
Grand Prairie: Parking lot in front of the building
South Oaks: Parking lot in front of the worship building
North Arlington: Pioneer campus remote parking lot

What is a mobile food pantry?

Answer

A mobile food pantry brings food to the community instead of people going to a fixed pantry location. Volunteers serve on teams for welcome, registration, conversation and prayer, shopping, bagging, and stocking. Together they walk each guest through the process: we welcome them, register them, talk and pray with them, help them shop, bag their groceries, and load everything into their cars.

What is different about this food box packing?

Answer

Some community groups will pack emergency food packs to be delivered to families. If you’ve helped at one of our large food packing events, this will feel familiar, just with fewer boxes.

Question 5

What does the shoe sorting and giveaway look like?

Answer

At the Pioneer campus, we’ll form assembly lines to check donated shoes, sort them by size, and box them. A big part of this project is writing notes to the people who will receive the shoes. Guests at the food pantry that day can also pick up shoes for themselves or their family.

Who is Central Storehouse?

Answer

Central Storehouse is a local food pantry that has served our community since 2020. Along with providing meals, they actively share the gospel with every client they serve.

Question 7

Who is Buckner International?

Answer

Buckner International serves vulnerable children and families in the U.S. and around the world. You may know Buckner from its history as an adoption agency, but it also works to prevent children from becoming orphans. One way it does that is through Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls, which provides new shoes to children and families in need.

How will the community find out about the event?

Let one of our staff know that you’re volunteering and also have a need. We’ll make sure you and your family are served.

What if there is inclement weather?

Answer

We plan to serve rain or shine! If weather impacts your project's activities, your Community Group Leader and Site Coordinator will be there to help communicate any changes and next steps. Unless you hear otherwise, plan to arrive and serve as scheduled
