The Trials

Reflection

The trials of Jesus were grossly unjust (Matthew 26:57-67).

The judges went against their own law and traditions regarding fair trials, scrambling to find a way to condemn Jesus.

Even in the face of false accusations and brutal beatings, Jesus did not sin.

Jesus was the perfect, spotless sacrifice (1 Peter 1:9, John 1:9).

Look at the steps before you.

Each step signifies a trial— three by Jewish officials and three by Roman officials.

Jesus was found to be innocent and without sin six times.

Yet the crowd was angry and persistent. In an effort to satisfy them, Pilate turned Jesus over to be crucified.

Thus, Jesus continued His journey to the cross to do the will of the Father.
