Assis Silva

Computer System Analyst

I was born in Angola-Africa in a city called Luanda, but at an early age God sent me to one of the best cities in the world called Seville-Spain, where I grew up. My love for computers started at an early age when I learned to how to break and then fix things.  My brothers told me that I was very tall and could do more than fix computers. At the age of 14, they sent me to Portugal to play basketball in Benfica of Lisbon. A year later God led me to a different location.  God gave me the skills to play basketball so that I could travel all over the world. I never knew the reason behind it until today.  I moved to Arlington Texas in 2001,and then attended school in Provo-Utah(BYU).

I met my beautiful wife, April Young-Silva, in Bedford-Texas while watching an NFL Sunday game. It was my Chicago Bears vs. her Dallas Cowboys. We have a little boy we call Panda who is 7-years-old. We love the Dallas Mavericks and we love getting together with other couples in our community. Making memories with my family and friends are my priority and part of my mission…

In 2014, God opened the doors of Fielder Church to us and it was at a moment that I very much needed prayers and our Father’s support. Since then, Fielder has become our home.  In 2020, I joined the Fielder staff in the IT department and found my calling as a prison ministry mentor within a program called Bridges to Life. I love spending time inside the prison and sharing experiences and His word with my brothers there. My other passion is mentoring kids at the elementary school with Kids Hope US. My vision is to be sent to Angola to provide ministry in their prisons. God has been so good to me.
